Astrology is as popular as ever. Many people go to astrologers curious to find more about who they are, or the path they should take. Sadly - as I’m sure you are aware - so much of the industry pumps out quick answers, false certainty and "ancient secrets" glammed-up with aspirational hype, moral platitudes and canned psychology. At best, this is an appalling misunderstanding - but the worst of it is that it puts power in the hands of the astrologer as expert on peoples lives.
But here's my take. First of all, while astrology offers insights that can be compelling and highly poignant, it does not describe anyone or anything in definitive terms, and will not predict the future. It is a symbolic and archetypal language that bridges our everyday mind both to deeper aspects of self, and to the true nature of the present moment. In fact, the ancient arts were ultimately intended as means to transcend the identifiable aspects of our nature and path.
In sessions, whilst I can use my expertise to describe qi tendencies, cyclical timings and fate patterns - those consulting me remain the expert on their lived experience. Together we unearth the values and meanings that sit behind choices and intentions - but even then, only in the half light. To paraphrase Jung, we must meet the mystery only halfway, or we kill the image.
That’s not a get out, it just means that nothing we conclude is static - but emergent, relational and connected to a much wider field of possibilities and experience. Clarity always beats the false promise of certainty. Understood on these terms the work actually becomes far more relevant and effective.
(And, by the way, there is nothing wrong with making forecasts or using astrology for personal benefit - either by optimising opportunities or avoiding harm - but ultimately, it’s a wisdom teaching intended to support health and personal evolution).

I would highly recommend having a Ba Zi reading with Ryan. I didn't initially know much about Chinese Astrology but he clearly explained the system and the philosophy behind the art. It was fascinating to look at the cycles of change and how they lined up with events in my life. If this sounds like something you would like to be involved with, here’s how the process works. Many people are surprised by the level of involvement and scope of a reading - and the level of investment - so this might help.
Preparation
I hand-draft your natal charts - a thorough, meditative process that takes around half a day. Most modern practitioners will use online calculators and while faster, I believe this approach misses so much. Using traditional methods, and taking the time to carefully build up complex layers allows me to more fully absorb into the more profound aspects of a chart and the symbols in all their nuance.
Sessions
Over two ninety-minute sessions (online or in-person) we will walk through your chart together. First of all, you get an in-depth and clear overview of the symbols, flows, timings and general dynamics. There is a lot to cover, plus I always leave time to unpack some of the key themes, tracing them back through your experience to underlying values and beliefs. I always find that it is through meaningful conversation, rather than presentation of material, that the most useful insights are found.
As we go, we will circle in and around the astrology to devise practical interventions and strategies that you can put in place to better align your nature, life path and relationships. There is a lot to digest, so it generally works best if the sessions are separated by a week or so.
Follow-up
If you wish, you can receive recordings and transcripts of the sessions. I do not write written reports. Some prefer them some don’t - so I offer them as an add on. Meanwhile, there is so much packed into the work, it will keep you going for a long time - and we have an open conversation by email, so you have the chance to ask about anything you didn’t understand or are curious to know more about.

I know there is lot you can tell from a natal chart, and that Ryan carefully studied all aspects of my chart before meeting, so I was curious as to his take. As well as many spot-on details, I found Ryan's ability to listen and ask so many intelligent questions, helped me to find the things I need to work on, as well as point me to new "doors" - hidden potentials, leading to places I hadn't even considered - or rather hadn't asked myself the right questions to unlock them.

In these follow-up sessions, I draw on a mix of narrative coaching, astrology, and divination to help you walk your path with skill and sensitivity to your character and fate. Sessions are £90 for an hour.
