Feng Shui creates a meaningful and vibrant connection within and between lives and places.

Working with Feng Shui is a wonderful opportunity to evolve your space, harmonising it with the surrounding nature and the nature of its occupants.

It can help resolve struggles and open new opportunities, while making living use of our oldest and most precious ways of knowing ourselves and our world.

I have been studying and practicing Feng Shui since 2015. Over the years, people have consulted me for the following main reasons:

  • They are looking for - or have found - a new house or workplace, or are planning to remodel their existing one. They are seeking a coherent vision for how to develop their space and optimise it's energetic qualities - as a gift to the place, but also to meaningfully align their life's intentions.

  • They are struggling with a sense of inertia or unease in their home or workplace. They are likely to be in a place of transition; clarifying intentions and ready to progress, but may be experiencing frustration, disorientation or disconnection.

  • Are on the path of self-cultivation such as Eastern Internal Arts or Meditation, and wish to align their inner lives, their living spaces and the development of their practice.

  • Ryan gave a thorough Feng Shui consultation on our retail/restaurant project in Mayfair, London. He gave some extremely interesting insights and it was especially useful to see how the business and project could be enhanced by balancing different materials, colours, activities and objects relating to the varying elements present. The report he produced was both extremely detailed and highly digestible at the same time.

  • Many thanks for doing the Feng Shui consultation. I very much enjoyed the process, and the report is proving very helpful - especially as I work with the architects to bring the plans together

  • My recent Feng Shui consultation with Ryan was a thoroughly enjoyable and thought-provoking experience. He wears his knowledge lightly; never trying to impress you with technicalities, explaining everything in a clear and simple way. You are however, left in no doubt about his mastery of his subject.

Example case studies

  • Mindset Classic approaches require a blend of active scrutiny and insight, aiming somewhere between definition and divination. My approach is story-based, ancestral, emergent and relational - seeking out symbols and root images that sit behind the surface layers of our intentions and circumstances. As an ex theatre-maker and a Jungian, this approach appeals to me - but I am also wary of the other extreme of overly new-age spirituality and woolly thinking.

  • I like outcomes that are practical, grounded and solutions oriented. It is a balancing act so that you don’t get lost in symbols and process and yet stay unconstrained by formulaic traditions or reductionist modern approaches.

  • I use a holistic process that is tailored to an individual, a space, a set of circumstances. The outcomes are unique, and may or may not align with feng shui “rules”.

  • Ethics. Feng Shui is a powerful domain of knowledge - there is no doubt that a building can have a big impact on a person’s health wealth and wellbeing. To my mind there is nothing wrong with using Feng Shui to mitigate against difficulty or take advantage of opportunities provided - and yet ultimately the purpose of Feng Shui is to regenerate the spirit of a place, to reconnect it with time and space so that it relates meaningfully to its surrounding environment and the web of life.

If you know me, you will know that I am appalled with the way Feng Shui  is practiced in the global West.

You can read more about my take on why this happened and what we can do about it here, but as far as my Feng Shui practice goes it comes down to the following;

My Feng Shui process

Over the years, I have been learning how to triangulate the best use of my skills, with both the needs of those who consult me, and the spaces themselves. I have broken down my work into two main stages

1. A Comprehensive Feng Shui Survey

Broadly speaking, this consists of

  • a comprehensive site survey mapping and assessing landscape, architecture, interior design, and history of the site. This can be done remotely, but preferably in person.

  • a number of conversations with you on life path, intentions, aesthetics, challenges and opportunities.

  • a period of rigorous analysis and synthesis, qi mapping, drafting and research

  • a detailed presentation of my findings, online or in person. This can include a number of immediate, actionable recommendations, as well as key steps towards a rooted and creative vision for how to evolve your space..

  • access to an interactive online pinboard, created by me, with notes, illustrations, ideas and ongoing comments.

2 Full Design

From here, I offer a full design service, including anything from concept drawings, mood boards and specifications, plans and elevations, planning and construction drawings and project management as required. For this stage I work in-house and through collaborations with trusted partners working professionally in design and architecture.

This stage allows me to more elegantly translate complex esoteric knowledge into design solutions - as well as to to stay faithful to an evolving process that otherwise gets lost in translation. The advantage to you is that the work will be more effective, sustainable and economical.

Costs and booking

The costs of the Feng Shui Survey will depend on the size of your space, the number of occupants and the level of my involvement.

To give you an idea - for a one bedroom apartment with one occupant expect to pay £650. For a five bedroom house with garden and four occupants, it will be more like £1450. More complex projects will be assessed individually.

From there full design can be quoted in phases, but I may be able to give you a general indication after our initial conversation.

The first step is to have an initial meeting.  There is absolutely no pressure on these calls, and no charge; just an opportunity to connect, chat through your space and find out if it feels right for us to work together.
